Please find the following information below regarding the PhD in Global Studies:

 

 

URBINO PhD in GLOBAL STUDIES_DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS APPROACHING: JUNE 10 2025

The Ninth edition of the PhD Programme in Global Studies has been launched by the University of Urbino, Italy.

The deadline for applications is June 10th 2025 at 1:00 pm CEST. Online applications from the website: www.uniurb.it/global-studies

eleven positions are offered in the 2025-2026 Ph.D. Programme, including ten positions with scholarship covering fees and an annual stipend at standard Italian rates (increased by 50% for training periods outside Italy).  

The upcoming 2025-2026 edition focuses on the following thematic area: International Economic Policy, Business and Governance. A specific attention will be given to the following topics:

  • Growth, inequalities, and transformations of economic systems, national and supranational responses to major recessions, to tensions in politics, trade and finance, to technological change and Artificial Intelligence, and to environmental challenges;
  • Evolution of multinational companies and SMEs, industry and the public sector, finance and work in a context of international fragmentation of production and of growing economic and political instability;
  • Geo-political processes and political choices of European, international, regional and national institutions for the governance of globalization and international relations.

Applicants to the 2025/26 edition will have to submit research projects referring to the general themes listed above.

English is the working language of the Ph.D. Programme.

The Ph.D. Programme is developed over three years (from Fall 2025 until Fall 2028) and will be organised as follows:

• a first year of courses and exams in Urbino;
• a second year of thesis development, research and training, mainly spent in international institutions associated to the Programme;
• a third year of research activity carried out at international institutions associated to the Programme, for completing the Ph.D. thesis.

Introductory courses will be offered online between September and October 2025. Core courses and workshops will have to be attended in person at the Urbino University facilities during the first year.

The Faculty of the Ph.D. Programme draws from the staff of the University of Urbino and from a number of outstanding international institutions.

Services. Accommodation opportunities in the center of the beautiful Renaissance city of Urbino and surroundings. University facilities for students include meal services, computer services, libraries, city-wide Wi-Fi connection, fully equipped office for PhD students while in Urbino, cultural opportunities and events for exploring the rich heritage of the area.
