Dear Students, EEBL is pleased to confirm that the Soft Skills Workshop will be held on 6 May (9.00-13.00/14.00-17.00), 7 May (9.00-13.00/14.00-17.00) and 8 May (10.00-13.00/14.00-17.00). Soft Skills are considered desirable qualities for employment and include personal attributes such as common sense, the ability to deal with people, and a positive and flexible attitude, as well as creative thinking, teamwork, problem solving and conflict resolution. We encourage all students to participate in the three days of practical activity to be presented by our special guest speaker, Grammeno Mastrojeni. Diplomat, professor and writer, has pioneered research and action on societal, geo-strategic and economic impacts of environmental degradation. Until August 2019, Coordinator for the Environment and Head of the Science-Policy Interface with Italian Development Cooperation; MFA head negotiator on water, lands, and oceans, and member of the Delegations to UNFCCC, UNCBD. Co-Chair of the G7 Group on Climate and Fragility, Chair of the Global Mountains Alliance – Mountain Partnership, Member of the BoaCo-Chair of the Global Islands Partnership. Currently, Senior Deputy Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, in charge of Energy and Climate Action. Professor of Environment and Geo-strategy at various think-tanks and universities, and member of various scientific boards, Grammenos authored numerous articles, official reports, and six books about human impacts of environmental degradation. The suggested reading in preparation for the seminar is as follows: SUN TZU, The Art of War FISHER – URY, Getting to Yes GOLEMAN, Emotional Intelligence The main topics covered include intercultural relations prejudices, negotiation techniques and tactics and public speaking and relations with the media. Students who have not already earned 6 university credit for an extra activity may earn 6 CFU by attending at least 80% of the workshop.
