We welcome submissions of research papers related to women’s labor market outcomes in Latin America and the Caribbean. Priority will be given to contributions addressing the following topics:
Women's leadership in the workplace
Gender dynamics in green jobs
Informal labor markets and innovations towards better job outcomes
The care economy, social norms, and jobs
The impact of digitization and AI on employment outcomes
Each paper selected will be assigned to a discussant.
Eligibility
Submissions must be in English and consist of a full draft paper in PDF format. Each submission should include a title and abstract. Work-in-progress is welcome if sufficiently developed for scholarly discussion. Full papers, in PDF format, should be submitted
online via the workshop’s website.
Selection Criteria
Papers will be selected based on academic merit and potential relevance for policymaking in the region. The organizing committee will prioritize empirical studies that contribute to our understanding of challenges that women face in the region, employ rigorous
quantitative methods and present clear policy implications. Early career researchers and researchers based in the region are encouraged to apply. Each researcher can only submit and present one paper. The researcher can be the coauthor of multiple papers.
Selected papers have a possibility of being published in a proposed special issue of the Journal of Development Economics under consideration.
Submission Deadline: June 22, 2025
Notification of Acceptance: July 22, 2025
Program:
The Policy Research Workshop will consist of closed-door, academic sessions that bring together leading researchers for small-group discussions on cutting-edge evidence related to women and jobs. In
addition, the workshop will feature policy-focused dialogue between researchers and policymakers to demonstrate how evidence can shape policymaking and highlight evidence-informed policy levers and options. The latter will be open to the public and broadcast
online.
