Dear students,
I don't remember who had the problem of the ubuntu server waiting for 2
minutes during the boot sequence.
Anyway, for those who may be interested: the problem is that GNS3
detaches the interface(s) but the OS by default waits for them to get
the carrier for 2 minutes. To avoid this, for each interface defined in
the /etc/netplan/XXX file add the configuration parameter
"optional:true" as in the screenshot attached to this email.
Remember also to put dhcp to false, otherwise it will wait for the DHCP
server to reply.
Whenever you need to access the internet (for example to install
something with apt) do as follows:
(1) close gns3
(2) manually connect one interface
(3) use the command "dhclient" to get the IP configuration from the DHCP
server
I'll see you Monday
Ciao
Marco
